Rosrybolovstvo sell and ban the import of fish products from the Faroe Islands

Rosrybolovstvo introduced a proposal to the government to ban the import of fish products from the Faroe Islands (autonomous territory of Denmark), reported on the website of the department.
Such a step is offered as a response measure to restrictions imposed on Russian fishermen. From the Faroe Islands, mainly herring, mackerel and moiva are imported, and in 2018-2022 the volume of this import decreased from 144,100 to 71,500 t.
“The proposed measure will not have a negative impact on the country’s food security, as Russian industrial companies carry out production and delivery to the Russian coast of these types of fish and produce products from them,” the department says.

Import from the Faroe Islands can be replaced through the redistribution of parts of the Russian export to the domestic market, added Rosrybolovstve.
At the beginning of June, it became known that the Faroe Islands intend to limit access to their ports for Russian ships. As noted by Danish Radio, it was planned to limit by 75% the volume of fish transshipment in local ports, and also to prohibit the provision of repair services to vessels from the Russian Federation.
